Steam room, sauna, massage… all the stuff the mafia guys do in the movies. You don’t need to throw down for some swank day spa either – many YMCA’s got whatcha need with a $50 family day pass (for non-members). “Technically” the minimum age is “18”, so your pubescent 12 year old may need to pop their zits and try not to squeak their voice when checking in.

The main purpose of all this is to spend time with you kid or spouse and to engage in meaningful conversations.

Let them ask you questions. Here are a few to consider leading them into:

  • How did you know mom was “the one?”
  • What was life like for you growing up?
  • Who was your best friend growing up? What kind of stuff would you do?
  • What was the craziest thing you ever did?
  • What was the dumbest thing you ever did?
  • How did you choose your career?
  • What did you want to be when you grew up?
  • What are you most proud of?
  • Who was the biggest influence on your life?
  • Is there anything you wish you could go back and do differently?
