Romance

What is it with girls’ fantasies of making out in the rain? Try it and I swear instead of the famous “The Notebook” scene you’ll be recreating a Stephen King horror movie. So… what actually works? We have a theory:

Constant Little Things (Acronym is up to you…)

Set aside 5 minutes EVERY DAY to do something small or give thought to something bigger. Mark it on your calendar.

  • Write a note and hide it. Could be short and sweet: “Hey! You make my heart smile.” or “Angel face, I love you!”
  • Put a piece of candy on her pillow.
  • Have the kids start a group hug with mommy in the middle.
  • If you drive past some nice flowers on the side of the road, pull over and pick one. Even better if your wife is in the car when you do it!
  • Call a babysitter (get the number off your wife’s phone if you have to) and plan a surprise night out. Probably keep it low key so she doesn’t feel unprepared, although it never hurts for you to put on a suit.

You get the gist. Just like with the kids, be intentional. Make a moment. A few minutes of extra effort and attention. Every day.

OK, enough theory. For a bunch of legit ideas straight from a woman’s perspective, check out:
